BURKINA FASO – FRANCE- MOROCCO: French-Moroccan photographer dies of wounds after Burkina Faso attacks

The 33 year old photographer Alaoui was in Burkina Faso on assignment for Amnesty International when jihadist gunmen stormed the hotel and the restaurant nearby where she was staying on Friday night.

Her mother, Christine Alaoui, said her daughter was shot in the lungs, abdomen, arm, leg and kidney and had to undergo six hours surgery in an Ouagadougou clinic.

She died on Monday night after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Her body will be flown to Morocco.

Her latest exhibition of photographs is on display at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris.
